Technical people leader
I am available for pro-bono outreach, training and public speaking to schools and kura to help computing or technology teachers with their classes. I can visit your class and talk about real-world industry applications for your technology lessons or present on concepts that reinforce learning and give students a better picture of what they can expect from an industry in software and technology.
I’ve given workshops, presentations and teacher support at many Otago and Southland area schools, including:
- Tainui School - Dunedin (robotics)
- St. Hilda's Collegiate - Dunedin (software design, technology)
- Bayfield High School - Dunedin (robotics, software design, technology)
- Otago Boys' High School - Dunedin (technology)
- Columba College - Dunedin (technology)
- John McGlashan College - Dunedin (technology, software design, web development)
- Blue Mountain College - Otago (web development workshop: full day)
- Wakatipu High School - Queenstown (technology)
- Aparima College - Southland (web development workshop: full day)
As a web and generalist softare engineer, I’ve had a career that has allowed me to work with clients across many NZ industries including aviation, agribusiness, retail, banking & finance, education and transport. With a background in education as well, I’m familiar with the NZ education system and achievement standards. I am more than happy to talk to your class about specific areas of your teaching programme, or offer relevant and current industry advice to help inform your own lesson plans and delivery.
